About the course

The Transition to T-Level programme is intended for those that are looking to progress into the T-Level in the coming year, but do not yet meet the requirements to join.

This programme is ran along within the T-Level ideals with both a strong core of technical details and details, along with a occupational placements, which will help to prepare you for both employment, and for progression to the T-Level programme.

The core technical content is based on the Skills for Professions in Digital Industries and Technology, along with GCSE and professional skills development ideals. This could consist of a range of modules and units, consisting of some of the following (depending on availability at the time):

  • GCSE Maths/English programme
  • Automation in Office Programs
  • Creating and Publishing Web Pages
  • Cyber Security and Data Analysis
  • Hardware and Software
  • Programming Fundamentals and Projects
  • Career Planning, Revision and Exam Skills

WHO CAN JOIN?

3 GCSEs at Grades C/4 or above including English or Maths (with a minimum of a 3 in the other GCSE). All applicants will be invited for a mandatory interview with the Study Programme Leader.  

Please also note that you must be a maximum of 17 years of age at the beginning of the course in order to transition onto the main T-Level programme.

It would also be suggested that you have looked into finding a relevant occupational placement for yourself and be willing to undertake this throughout the course of the year.

Methods of delivery include: Practical classes, group & individual work, lectures, project work, self-study, internet research, quizzes and tests.

Most assessment is through coursework, although examinations are part of the programme of study as well.

Not only will you be gathering a great deal of additional experience with you occupational placement, but a technical qualification within the IT industry.  This would lead you to the possibility of progressing onto the main study programme of T-Levels, an apprenticeship programme, or into paid employment.  You could also join another FE course within the college.
