Quilting and Patchwork for Beginners

COURSE OVERVIEW

This course will guide you through the art of quilt making, starting with the creation of individual quilt blocks and culminating in the assembly of a lap quilt. The course is designed for beginners who have basic sewing machine skills.

Over the first 8 weeks, you will learn various patchwork techniques, exploring different block patterns and colour combinations. Each session will focus on creating a new quilt block, gradually building your confidence and skill set. You’ll master essential quilting techniques such as cutting, piecing, and pressing, while gaining a solid understanding of fabric selection and design principles.

In the final two weeks, you will bring your quilt blocks together, learning how to assemble and complete your lap quilt. You’ll delve into the techniques of basting, quilting, and binding, ensuring your quilt is both beautiful and durable.

By the end of this course, you will not only have a stunning lap quilt to showcase but also the foundational skills to continue your quilting journey independently.
