COURSE OVERVIEW
Our healthcare practice course is designed to equip you with the essential skills and behaviours and knowledge needed for a variety of roles within the healthcare sector. Offering education and training for a range of careers, including healthcare assistant practitioner roles, nursing assistant positions, care navigation, and assessment, the course emphasises the importance of collaboration at all levels.
You will gain a deep understanding of culturally diverse organisations, cross-cultural issues, and the values central to the healthcare profession.
This course provides the opportunity to enter the workforce directly or pursue higher education, such as a degree, with pathways to a professional qualification that is nationally recognised. It will help you to develop the skills and behaviours, techniques, and personal attributes needed for a successful career while addressing contemporary health and care issues facing the sector.
The non-specialist ‘Integrated Health and Social Care’;; pathway, allows you to study without committing to a particular professional specialism. You will be provided with advice, information and guidance during the course to explore the different specialism This offers additional flexibility and supports progression into a range of health and social care-related degrees. You will have developed a sound understanding of the principles in their field of study and will have learned to apply those principles more widely. You will have learned to evaluate the appropriateness of different approaches to solving problems. You will be able to perform effectively in their chosen field and will have the qualities necessary for employment in situations requiring the exercise of personal responsibility and decision-making.
FURTHER INFORMATION
This HNC in Healthcare is open to a wide range of Learners from a range of backgrounds. You may be returning to education after a break, you may be continuing your journey on to a Level 4/5 after completing a Level 3. Our typical entry requirements are;
Achieve a level 3 or A level in Health and Social Care or a Health replated subject such as Sociology, Psychology and Science. You should also have achieved English/ Maths and Science GCSE at 4 or above.
You should also be over 18 and it would helpful to have some work-related experience within this area.
On completion of this one year programme, there may be an opportunity to progress onto the Pearson level 5 Higher National Diploma in Healthcare Professions’ Support for England depending on the application numbers.
This course provides you with the opportunity to work in many different areas of the health and social care sector, Below are some examples of job roles the qualification could lead to you working in these areas, and the appropriate unit are chosen:
- Occupational therapy assistant practitioner
- Operating department assistant practitioner
- Community Care assistant practitioner
You will be assessed through assignments that will be set by your lecturer upon completion of each unit studied.
Unit that are covered and assessed:
- Law policy and Ethical practice
- Demonstrating Professional Principles and Values
- Supporting the individual journey through integrated Health and Social care
- Fundamentals o evidence-based practice
- Effective reporting and record keeping in Health and Social Care settings
- Fundamentals of Anatomy and Physiology
- Supporting individuals with specific needs
You will be instructed by experts in their respective field and you will have access to practical assessments within our simulated health suite.
As this is a full-time course you will be in college 14 hours a week, you are required to complete at least 225 hours of work experience/placement in healthcare settings and a Practice Learning Assessment and Development (PLAD) portfolio, including reflections on placement/workplace learning and experiences. The college will support you to gain a meaningful placement if needed.
As a student at Chichester College , you will have access to all our facilities including, study support, student union, sports facilities including Fitness suite, Nurseries and Library access.
Industry Visits and equipment – approximately £150.
