COURSE OVERVIEW
If you like the idea of working with adults, young people or children and a career in either the health, social or childcare sectors, then this course will offer you an introduction to professional practice, basic care, learning and development. It will give you a foundation of knowledge and practical skills and in addition will build your confidence, teamwork and communication skills.
FURTHER INFORMATION
This course is designed for learners leaving school with a minimum of 2 GCSEs at grade 2 and above, including English Language. You will need a passion for working health, social or education sector. You will also need two appropriate references (e.g. school/work experience)to recommend you for this course.
To work in any of the sectors you will need to continue to study at least up to Level 2. Students who achieve the CACHE Level 1 Diploma may progress to Level 2 Early Years or Level 2 BTEC First Certificate in Health and Social Care, providing the required GCSE grades have been achieved. You will also need to complete 7 of the units at an extended level to gain a place on the Level 2 course.
There are no exams on this course, so you will be assessed through assignment work as the course progresses. Each unit has its own assignment, and these are done in a variety of ways such as posters, booklets, leaflets, mood boards and powerpoints. You will need to successfully pass all 14 unit assignments to achieve the full Level 1 Diploma.
We ask that you come prepared for lesson with a notebook and pens. You require two lever arch folders to keep your assignment in. You would also benefit from having a memory stick.
