Future You

COURSE OVERVIEW

This is a 9-week course designed to help meet the needs of students who have struggled with education, providing an opportunity to access further education in a small group environment. Future You lessons are delivered face-to-face for 1 day per week with a qualified teaching member of staff. Students who have not achieved a grade 4 in Maths and English will also attend lessons specific to these subjects, studying either GCSE or Functional Skills. Each student will be given an individual timetable to attend and engage with.

The course covers 4 units that will support students in developing knowledge and an awareness of progression pathways and job opportunities, whilst developing important skills to support personal development and employability. Units include:

· Money management

· Rights and responsibilities

· Investigation into vocational areas

· Work skills

As a student on the course, you will have the opportunity to experience taster sessions in curriculum areas to help you find out what subjects you enjoy and see a future in. These taster sessions may require you to attend additional timetabled days, and engage in different types of sessions, such as practical sessions or sessions in a workshop environment.

Future You has 3 start dates throughout the academic year, these are:

· Date 1 -; end of October

· Date 2 – mid January

· Date 3 – end of April

Students applying after March may not be able to access GCSE alongside the course. This can be discussed further at interview.
