COURSE OVERVIEW
This is a 9-week course designed to help meet the needs of students who have struggled with education, providing an opportunity to access further education in a small group environment. Future You lessons are delivered face-to-face for 1 day per week with a qualified teaching member of staff. Students who have not achieved a grade 4 in Maths and English will also attend lessons specific to these subjects, studying either GCSE or Functional Skills. Each student will be given an individual timetable to attend and engage with.
The course covers 4 units that will support students in developing knowledge and an awareness of progression pathways and job opportunities, whilst developing important skills to support personal development and employability. Units include:
· Money management
· Rights and responsibilities
· Investigation into vocational areas
· Work skills
As a student on the course, you will have the opportunity to experience taster sessions in curriculum areas to help you find out what subjects you enjoy and see a future in. These taster sessions may require you to attend additional timetabled days, and engage in different types of sessions, such as practical sessions or sessions in a workshop environment.
Future You has 3 start dates throughout the academic year, these are:
· Date 1 -; end of October
· Date 2 – mid January
· Date 3 – end of April
Students applying after March may not be able to access GCSE alongside the course. This can be discussed further at interview.

rAre you a young person who is not currently in any form of education, employment or training? Have you started a course in September and do not wish to continue despite support offered? Do you have circumstances that do not allow you to continue your course, or are you unable continue with full-time education? If this applies to you, and you have genuine interest in college education, then Future You could be the right course for you.
All applicants require a successful interview to be accepted on the course.
This course will give you an introduction to College life and a taster into other programmes offered by Chichester College Group. On completion of the Future You course you will obtain an Award in Personal and Social Development) and will have the opportunity to apply for vocational courses for a September start date.
You will receive teaching delivery in class and complete 4 portfolio-based units to achieve your qualification. Further information on assessments can be discussed at interview stage.
Students attending Maths and English (GCSE or Functional Skills) will have the following assessments:
- GCSE English – 2 exams in May/June
- GCSE Maths – 3 exams in May/June
- Functional Skills – ongoing assessment dates during the year
There are no associated costs. You will need to bring stationary to your classes.
