COURSE OVERVIEW
This qualification is designed to support progression to higher education when taken as part of a programme of study that includes other appropriate BTEC Nationals or A Levels.
The course will cover different aspects of sport including, anatomy and physiology, fitness training, professional development, and practical sports performance.
In anatomy and physiology, you will learn about the structure and function of the skeletal, muscular, cardiovascular, respiratory and energy systems and how they respond and adapt to exercise.
In fitness training learners explore client screening and lifestyle assessment, fitness training methods and fitness programming to support improvements in a client’;s health and well-being.
In practical sports performance there is an opportunity to improve your own knowledge and practical ability in a selection of individual and team sports. You will develop your own practical performance in selected sports, focusing on the application of skills, techniques and tactics and reflecting on your performance.
The final unit of professional development, will explore the knowledge and skills required for different career pathways in the sports industry and you will take part in, and reflect on, a personal skills audit, career action plan and practical interview assessment activities, helping with onward career or study planning.
FURTHER INFORMATION
This course is designed for school leavers, to be studied alongside other A level/ BTEC qualifications. Applicants will need 5 GCSE’s grade 4 or above to include Maths and English. You will also need to participate in regular sport.
This course supports further study at university in areas such as Physiotherapy, sports injury, Teaching, sports science, sports journalism, sports coaching,
There will be two exams in the January of the first and second year. There will also be written assignments and one practical assessment.
There will also be mock assessment throughout both years.
You will need sports kit and there maybe a small charge under £20 for a course related trip.
