COURSE OVERVIEW
The Certificate in Esports is a subject specific course that has been developed and tailored to guide learners who are looking for an engaging and stimulating qualification along with developing a range of essential skills, techniques, and attitudes. This course covers a wide range of topics that are sought after within the industry. It covers modules and content such as:
· Establishing an Esports Organisation
· Plan an Esports event
· Streaming for Esports
· Esports Games, Teams, and Tournaments
We have a small specialist team that focus all our efforts in ensuring that you have the most relevant and up-to-date skills and techniques that will prepare you for the next step of your journey.
In addition to your course, we will also allocate time for you to succeed in your Maths/English GCSE, attend regular Personal Development Programme (PDP) sessions with your pastoral support tutor and you are required to complete 25 hours of Work Experience during your time on the course.
FURTHER INFORMATION
3 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English Language or Maths with a minimum of a grade 3 in the other GCSE (English Language or Maths). All applicants will be invited for a mandatory interview with the Study Programme Leader.
Successful completion of this qualification could allow progression to Level 3 pathways within the department and across the wider college community. This would be subject to application and interview with the relevant Level 3 pathway. We offer BTEC L3 Esports, BTEC L3 Computing and T level Product, Product Design and Development within our STEM provision.
Many of our units are assessed separately, by a variety of means, ranging from video and audio submissions to presentations to practical work. They will be assessed as either a Pass, Merit or Distinction. Assessment is flexible for everyone!
There are no external assessments on this course.
There are no additional costs applicable for this type of course however, it is recommended that learners have access to a modern PC with the capability of running suggested software from the team.
Work experience is a key fundamental core to this course, and as such, every learner is expected to undertake a minimum of 25 hours work outside of the college. This would ideally be within the computing industry, however work experience of a transferable skill set would also be accepted following a discussion at interview. It is therefore advisable to attempt to secure your work placement for the academic year following acceptance onto the course.
