COURSE OVERVIEW
5 weeks x 2.5 hours
This 5 weeks DIY course follows on from our DIY Basics, however completion of DIY Basics is not a requirement to attend this course. The focus of this course is to develop further your confidence in tackling everyday home DIY tasks and develop your knowledge and skills in joinery and tiling. Examples of topics we will cover include:
Prior to the course we will continue you to ask you to decide form a list of potential topics
- How to plan out DIY projects
- How to plan out laminate flooring, decking
- How to fit mortise lock and fit hinges
- How to fit skirting and facings
- Basic tiling techniques
- Assembling flat pack furniture
- Using power tools
The college will provide all tools and give whatever guidance is needed for safe usage. It is strongly recommended that students do not bring their own tools into college.

FURTHER INFORMATION
This course is for adults with some basic knowledge and experience of DIY and wanting to take their learning further.
We offer a range of Construction courses for adults including our new Routes into Construction, a two week course aimed at helping you get into the Construction industry. You can find more information about these on our website.
There is no formal assessment for the completion of this course. However, there is continuous workshop assessment based on Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement (RARPA).
