COURSE OVERVIEW
Offering 14 hours of teaching delivery, this course is designed for you if wish to improve your skill set prior to auditioning for professional dance institutions or universities or seeking the opportunity to train as a dance teacher in the independent sector or finding employment as a dancer. It focuses on developing your performance techniques (across a range of dance genres), independent discipline and professional practice. You will have access to elite dance training and the opportunity to be entered for ISTD Vocational exams that will prepare you for the next step in your career. You will work collaboratively to develop performance projects to take on tour.

FURTHER INFORMATION
You must complete a practical audition. You will need GCE A Levels or Level 3 Diploma/Extended Diploma (or equivalent) totalling 96 UCAS tariff points and dance qualifications at Grade 5 or above, or equivalency. GCSE English Language is required at grade 4 or above and GCSE Mathematics is preferred.
Your career pathways include:
Further elite dance training at a professional dance college or university gaining a level 5/6 qualification.
Undertaking an independent dance teaching qualification such as the ISTD Diploma in Dance Education and becoming a full member of the ISTD and potentially starting your own dance school.
Moving straight into the profession as a dance practitioner, for example, you could work as a West End performer, dancer on cruise ships, contemporary company member, choreographer, or community dance practitioner.
You will be assessed through a series of individual assignments. Your assignments will have a practical emphasis underpinned by theoretical exploration, research and planning. You will be given a clear time frame including deadlines for each individual activity and the overall assessment. You will be provided with assessment guidance so that you know what you are being assessed on and what is expected of you. Units 1 and 2 will be internally assessed and verified. Unit 3 will be internally assessed, internally verified and externally moderated. ISTD Vocational exams will be externally examined by an ISTD examiner.
There are no course fees if you are under 19. For 19+ learners the majority of the course fees will be funded by the Advanced Learner Loan.
There may be extra workshops. Fees/prices TBC. Additional classes will be made available to you for a small additional cost. These will be discussed at interview.
You will need to purchase dance uniform, including ballet shoes, tap shoes, leotards, jazz trousers, long sleeve tops.
