I have found that youngsters who become apprentices are committed and exhibit personal qualities which are very valuable – to themselves and to their employer; self motivation, dedication, enthusiasm, loyalty, belief, trust, desire to do well, awareness of their need to learn and willingness to work. The apprenticeship structure reduces the risk for the employer and apprentice and provides me with an important partner – Chichester College – to help manage people. They have access to a pool of motivated young people without me having to advertise and sift through loads of CVs. Over the last 3 years the people I employ have all approached me because we are known to offer apprenticeships – we have just taken on our 11th apprentice with Chichester College. I hope our experience encourages other businesses, apprentices are the way to go!”
