Fees

If you are under 19

Home students who are under 19, at the beginning of their course, do not pay tuition or exam fees for the majority of courses (see below for more details).  However, if you have to re-sit any exams you will be required to pay the exam fee.

You may need to pay for equipment and materials relevant to your course.  You will be told about this when you come to College for your interview.

The following are examples of the types of courses which are not free to students who are under 19:

  • Short courses e.g. 1 day management courses, rural short courses, etc.
  • Leisure courses e.g. creative crafts, language classes etc.
  • Higher Education courses e.g. HNCs, HNDs and Foundation Degrees, etc.
  • Professional qualifications, e.g. AAT, ILEX, CIMA, CLC etc.

Please ring Admissions on 01243 786321 if you would like more information on the fees for a particular course.

If you are 19 or over

Home students who are 19 or over when they start their course will have to contribute to their course fees (this is in line with Government guidelines).  For example the real cost of a full-time course is over £3,000 a year and students are asked to pay around a third of this in tuition fees.

If you are 19 or over and a home student you may not have to pay tuition or exam fees if you are:

  • in receipt of work related benefits, which are:
    - Job Seeker's Allowance
    - Employment Support Allowance (WRAG)
    - Dependent of someone in receipt of one of these benefits
  • or you are taking a basic skills course e.g. English or Maths basic skills
  • or you are studying for your first full Level 2 qualification (an L2E symbol and information is shown on full Level 2 courses)
  • or you do not already have qualifications at Entry Level or Level 1 and need to achieve this to reach your Level 2 goal
  • or you are between 19 and 24 and studying for your first full Level 3 qualification (an L3E symbol and information is shown on full Level 3 courses)

Please ring Admissions on 01243 786321 if you would like more information on fees or your eligibility for a waiver.
