Your Student Union at Chichester College

ChiSU Student Union at Chichester College can help you in many ways and you can join in too to make sure your voice is heard.

ChiSU logoWhether you are just finishing your GCSEs or looking to come back into education, you will want to know what else the college has to offer so you can get as much as you can from your student experience. That is where we come in, the Students Union, the hub of extras.

I’m Sebastiaan Posma, I am the current Sabbatical Student Union President of Chichester College, working with the students for the students. I studied here for the last two years, and had the best time getting involved with all sorts of different activities, and decided that I wanted to give my experience back to those that are coming into or are at the college already, and to give you the best experience possible here at Chichester College.

We provide a programme of extra curricular activities during the college hours, ranging from Salsa and Street Dance to Driver IQ and the Journalist Club as well as Mountain Biking and Kayaking, Cooking or Basic Painting and Decorating. There are a whole host of things to do, such as trips to Thorpe Park, New York and Disneyland Paris, and charity events, like Children In Need or the Haiti Appeal. Along with the College Parties throughout the year, the first one being Freshers, you will have a great time here.

Alongside the activities programmes, we are here to support the students and get them to where they want to go. Our door is always open, for a chat, to give you a lending hand, or if you have a suggestion for us to make your experience here better.

The way the Student Union works is by viewing the college as a big picture and then looking close up at small section so as a whole we are a student body representing the student voice, and the close ups are the individuals, the attention to detail which is the most important part.. Individual student with their own ideas coming together, as one to transform the college into being the best it can be!!

As a Union, to get things done, we have a system of Course Representatives who meet once a term within in the Curriculum area to discuss everything, be it good or not so good, in the area. Three times a year we meet with all Course Representatives to discuss everything from the price of chips to safety around the college, this is called the Student Conference. We also have a Student Executive, who I meet with personally once a week to discuss, and run the Students Union to our best ability.

Being at college is not just about learning your craft, it’s about testing your limits, experimenting and trying new things. So join us and Get Involved!
