The College recognises the importance of a well planned and comprehensive induction programme to ensure new members of staff are adequately prepared for and supported in their roles.
Each new member of staff will receive:
A Corporate Induction: This is a two day event that provides new members of staff with an insight in to the ethos of the College, as well as key legal matters that staff need to be aware of at work.
A Human Resources Induction: This will take place on the first day of employment. New members of staff are welcomed to the College, given information pertinent to their role and complete any initial new starter paperwork.
An Area Induction: An introduction in to the working environment including meeting managers and colleagues. Staff will be given an overview of the function of the team/area and receive training to carry out their day-to-day duties.
In addition, staff who directly support the curriculum must attend a one day Curriculum Induction. The aim of the curriculum induction is to provide an overview of the teaching and learning model implemented at Chichester College and an awareness of the role of student tutors and learning assistants. Other topics such as equality and diversity, the use of information learning technology (ILT) in the classroom and managing behaviour are also covered.
Unqualified lecturers or lecturers new to the Further Education sector must also attend the one day License to Practice course, which covers the basics of lesson planning, reviewing learning and giving constructive feedback to students.
Dates for corporate, curriculum induction and licence to practice will be sent to newly recruited staff by the Professional Development Centre staff.
