Exciting new developments in the eating experience at Chichester College.
Chichester College in partnership with caterers ARAMARK have big plans to revolutionise the eating facilities at both Chichester and Brinsbury campuses to be completed in time for the start of the September 2011 term.
SUBWAY and Food Shop
Work has already been completed in the existing 'Stop n Shop' area to transform it into a new food shop complete with salad bar and install a SUBWAY franchise. The installation of a SUBWAY franchise has caused great excitement with students at Chichester College and is the first and only Subway in a Further Education college.
As well as offering low cost fresh Subs, made to order on the premises, SUBWAY supports the Department of Health's '5 A Day' programme - all the salad ingredients chosen in one Sub is the equivalent of one of the five servings of fruit and veg recommended by the Dept of Health. SUBWAY will also promote the College's 'Every Child Matters' and 'Healthy College' initiatives, as well as the 'Switch' reward scheme, which encourages students to swap foods that are high in fat or sugar for something healthy.
Chichester College students were fully involved through ChiSU in choosing the mix of branding to stock the food shop, including some Fairtrade items and One Water, the sales of which have helped to provide a source of reliable, clean water to a village in Africa by the installation of a new PlayPump.
Outside the shop will be two new plasma screens and a new social seating area.
Costa Coffee Shop
Next on the agenda in June, is to refurbish the existing coffee shop in Coasters and replace it with a Costa Coffee Shop. It will sell a full range of Costa drinks plus a range of filled paninis, wraps, sandwiches and speciality breads. Also available will be muffins, cakes, cookies and flapjacks, as well as a range of hot savories and premium snacks.
Coasters
The main eating area in the Chichester campus, Coasters, will be completely refurbished over the summer holidays.
As well as a new public-facing area, the kitchens behind the scenes will have extensive renovation work to bring them bang up to date.
Brinsbury Campus
The Sussex Restaurant at Brinsbury is next on the list to be renovated. Pictures will follow soon.
