Summer School Courses at Chichester College in the UK

Summer school courses are a great way to develop English, take optional courses and enjoy student life in the UK. Chichester College has been running summer school courses for many years providing an excellent experience for international and European students while they are in the UK.
The programme has seven different levels of English from elementary to advanced. Every student is given an initial assessment and then placed on a course at the appropriate level. The English Language programme has approximately 400 students from 80 different countries throughout the world. Students are able to make friends with people from many different countries as well as experience British culture first hand.
The focus of summer school course classes is on general English Language and the aim is to improve:
- Grammar.
- Pronunciation.
- Vocabulary.
- Reading.
- Writing.
- Listening.
- Speaking.
The programme is 25 hours a week. Lessons in the morning are divided into two classes, the first class is 9.15am - 10.45am, and the second class is 11.00am - 12.30pm. There is a strong emphasis on oral communication in most classes. Homework and class tests are given at regular intervals to assess and monitor students’ progress.
During the afternoon students choose 2 options to study in addition to the general English classes in the morning. These options are studied between 13.30pm and 16.15pm. One option is usually two afternoons a week and 2.5 hours long. It is possible to choose from a large range of options from the following list depending on the student’s level of English:
- University of Cambridge Examination Preparation (Intensive) PET, FCE, CAE, CPE
- IELTS preparation
- TOEIC preparation
- Anglia Examination Preparation
- Academic English
- English for Media
- English for Travel & Tourism
- English for Holistic Therapies
- Introduction to Business English
- Advanced Business English
- English for Teachers
- English for Current Affairs
- English for Cookery
- English for Air Cabin Crew Services
