Foundation Courses

University of Chichester Foundation Programmes

Chichester College and the University of Chichester work closely to offer International  students the Chichester Learning Experience. The two institutions have drawn on their history and expertise in education to develop a partnership that enables students to study on high quality courses. 

The University of Chichester has a 170 year history as a higher education institution and it was ranked as the top modern British University in the UK by “The Times Higher Education Student Experience Survey 2009” and 8th in the country overall. The University has 3,300 full-time students following a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes with a high degree of success and employability.  It is well known for its close-knit student community and distinctive character that recognises and supports every student as an individual. 

University of Chichester International Business Foundation Programme 

This one year programme is specifically designed to prepare international students for entry onto a wide range of Business related degree programmes at the University of Chichester. The degree programmes include:

  • Accounting and Finance
  • Business Studies
  • Events Management
  • Human Resources Management
  • IT Management for Business
  • Marketing
  • Tourism Management 

This programme is for international students who are at least 17 years old, have completed two years of senior high school or equivalent and have the equivalent of IELTS 5.0.

The foundation course content is designed to ensure that student have the skills and knowledge they need to be successful at the University. Course modules include:

  • Exploring Business Activity
  • Investigating Business Resources
  • Introduction to Marketing
  • Effective People, Communication and Information
  • Introduction to Accounting
  • Market Research
  • English for Academic Purposes
  • Tutorial 

In July 2011 there was a 97% progression rate onto many degree courses at different universities by the 45 students who completed the programme. This information is highlighted on the course information sheet. 

International Business Foundation Diploma Programme 

This intensive one year programme is for students who would like to complete a business degree in two years following the successful completion of this course. Successful students are guaranteed progression onto the second year of one of the following degrees at the University of Chichester: 

  • Accounting and Finance
  • Business Studies
  • Human Resources Management
  • IT Management for Business
  • Marketing 

This programme is for international students who are at least 18 years old, have completed three years of senior high school or equivalent and have the equivalent of IELTS 5.5.

The course content is designed to ensure that students have the skills and knowledge they need to enter the second year of a Business related programme at the University of Chichester. Course modules include:

  • Business Environment
  • Managing Financial Resources
  • Organisations and Behaviour
  • Marketing Principles
  • The Internet and e-Business
  • Personal and Professional Development
  • Employability Skills
  • Accounting
  • Academic Development Support
  • English language Development 

In July 2011 there was a 100% pass rate with 80% of students qualifying to progress to the second year of a degree programme at the University of Chichester and 20% of students qualifying to progress to the first year of a degree programme. A course information sheet is available.
