The General English course is 15 hours per week delivered in the morning. You will learn the English language through a balance of activities aimed at improving your grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and the skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening. Throughout your programme there will be a strong emphasis on English for Communication. All EU students will need to do a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) in English Language, at a level suitable for their ability. The emphasis of this qualification is on being able to use English in practical, realistic situations. You can also prepare for Cambridge exams or Anglia examinations at an appropriate level. You will be given a course book for your core English classes which is included in your tuition fee. You must bring it with you to each class. You will be given an initial assessment to determine which class is most suitable to develop your level and understanding of English. The initial assessment will cover all the skills. You will be given homework and class tests at regular intervals in order to assess and monitor your progress. Mornings are divided into two classes. The first class starts at 9.15am and finishes at 10.45am. The second class starts at 11.00am and end at 12.30pm.The programme has been designed to ensure that every student follows a course of study suitable for their level of competence in English.

You can also develop your English Language ability and then learn new skills to put your language into practice. You can choose 1 or 2 extra subjects in addition to your General English classes. Each option is five hours per week. Subjects are studied in the afternoon between 13.30 and 16.15. One subject is two afternoons of 2.5 hours each. You can choose a maximum of 2 subjects. English Study Year
More than just a language course the English Study Year allows you to study other subjects alongside British students where possible. The programme is 15 hours of English Language and up to 9 hours of Academic or Vocational study. The focus of this course is on English Language and not taking Academic or vocational qualifications.
It is ideal for those students who wish to combine English language with an academic or vocational subject. Students choose up to two courses from a range of academic subjects or one vocational subject.
You will be given an initial assessment to determine which level is most suitable to develop your understanding of English. The initial assessment will cover all the skills. You will be given homework and class tests at regular intervals in order to assess and monitor your progress. EU Students will need to complete an NVQ in English as a Foreign Language. You can also prepare for Cambridge exams or Anglia Examinations at an appropriate level. The Anglia suite of examinations offers not only General English but also four different levels of Business English that could be combined with studies in an academic Business course.
Entrance to the other courses listed below is subject to minimum levels of English, an appropriate knowledge of the chosen subject and minimum and maximum class sizes. Some combination of subjects will not be possible. Available subjects will be confirmed on arrival. Choose a maximum of two Academic Subjects or one Vocational Subject.
