This qualification has been designed for those who wish to further develop their skills by gaining the ability to create three dimensional entities and drawings. This will be achieved by the use of an industrially recognised computer aided drawing package.

What will I Study?
This is a practical “hands-on” course ensuring regular contact with the software. The unit offered is 302 and includes: 1) Apply appropriate commands to set the 3D modelling environment 2) Create and use working planes at any required position/attitude within 3D space 3) Define and use co-ordinate points at any position within 3D space 4) Apply appropriate commands to construct the whole or part of a 3D model using the best available method – surface or modelling 5) Apply appropriate commands to modify 3D solid objects 6) Apply appropriate commands to perform 3D operations on existing objects 7) Apply appropriate commands to manipulate a 3D model 8) Apply appropriate commands to view 3D model in a variety of display formats 9) Print/plot/export 3D models
How will I be Taught?
Learning will be via classroom exercises, lectures and tutorials as well as a self-study work pack which enables students to work at their own pace and outside of class as well as the classroom.
How will I be Assessed?
Your competence will be assessed by two practical assignments and a multiple-choice test The Centre administers the assessments and you can take them at any time that the tutor considers appropriate
Either an equivalent Level 2 Award in 2D Computer Aided Drafting or Level 3 Award Computer Aided Drafting.
You should be computer literate since basic computer concepts and file saving are not included. It would be advantageous for you to have some experience in the production of technical drawings and have had prior experience of using CAD to produce 2D drawings.

Students who are under 19 on 31st August in the academic year in which they start their course, will be exempt from tuition fees on the majority of courses.
