Access to Higher Education Diploma: Art and Design Level 3

The first 6 weeks of the course (12 September to 21 October) are an essential introduction to the Access to HE Diploma Art and Design qualification. Drawing basics are covered including measuring techniques, mark-making and working with various materials, surfaces and textures. Workshops, life drawing and study skills are also introduced. This course has been created to meet the needs of people who wish to develop their skills in Art and Design. It provides an opportunity for mature students to redirect their career choice and to explore alternative creatively based occupations. The objectives are to enable access to the process of visual education in a broad range of media and disciplines with a view to further study at a higher level. Entry requirements

Age 19+, by interview. Although there are no formal entry qualifications this is a demanding and intensive course and applicants will be expected to demonstrate the potential to progress to HE and should be able to articulate their ideas both visually and in written work. If you have GCSEs in Maths and English at C grade or above, please provide evidence at interview. If you are unable to provide evidence, or do not have these qualifications, you will be asked to completed an online test for English and/or Maths at interview, lasting approximately 30 minutes each.

If you don't have A-levels or equivalent qualifications and you are between 19 and 24 when you start the course, then you may be entitled to take this course without paying tuition fees.
