Comic Relief 2009 at Chichester College
James Collins, Student Union President at Chichester College, declared it was a ‘fantastic success’ on Red Nose Day when the College raised over £2,000 for Comic Relief. “I must single out First Steps Nursery for their tremendous support in raising around a quarter of the total collected,” said James. The First Steps Nursery staff are pictured here in their fancy dress.

A huge number of students and staff dressed up for the day as Wild West and movie characters and, in the spirit of doing something funny, the audience at lunchtime in Coasters restaurant were entertained by a ‘Chichester’s Got Talent’ competition. An all female team of Morris dancers consisting of students and staff from the care team were runners up but the winner was Boney Woods, a 15 year old car mechanic student whose hip hop beatboxing ( vocal percussion producing drum beats, rhythms and musical sounds using only his mouth, lips and tongue) was a winner with the audience. One of the best laughs came when another group of female staff, including senior management members, performed a stunning set of Abba tunes.
Elsewhere around College events such as football and pool tournaments, an interactive rowing competition against Chelmsford College, tug of wars and red hair colouring all helped to raise funds for Red Nose Day.
Winners of the football tournament were The Football Academy who beat Woodlands Halls of Residence 1 – 0 in the final. Reception won the prize for Best Dressed Area and the Best Dressed Person was ‘Sir’ Chris Hartley in his knight’s armour. Reception staff are pictured here behind their re-creation of a western saloon bar.
